Entomology Core Curriculum Courses
Insect Physiology 16:370:516
Offered Every Other Fall (odd years)
This course introduces students to the basic principles of insect physiology including digestive, circulatory, muscular, endocrine and nervous systems. Diversity and abundance of insects has enabled the ability to occupy a wide range of ecological niches can be attributed to adaptations of physiological systems so this course also covers comparative physiology between groups.

Entomology Elective Curriculum Courses
Insect Behavior 16:370:519
Offered Every Other Fall (alternate years, taught in Fall 2020)
Insect Behavior focuses on mechanisms of behavior and commission from a physiological and evolutionary approach. The course will explore behavioral development, sociality and learning among insect groups. The course will also focus on behavioral experimentation and approaches to study it.

Molecular Entomology 16:370:509
Taught every other Spring (alternate years, last taught in Spring 2020)
Molecular Tools in entomology introduces students to the concept of insect molecular biology and bioinformatic techniques. We will explore the techniques used in experimentation and the applied approach to gene editing. Students will create project outlines based on the practical information gained in the class.
